How the GPS technology works.
How do we use the Global Positioning System (GPS for short) network as an interactive multimedia tour environment?- GPS satellites broadcast the time and data about their location
- The GPS Ranger ® has a high-quality receiver chip & antenna that picks up the signals and determines it's own location to within 4-5 meters
- As the visitor moves around with the unit the coordinates change and this is what triggers the multimedia messages & map details
- At a pre-set location the relevant message is triggered that delivers information about that particular point of interest
- Messages can also be controlled by the direction of travel that allow for a welcome message on the way in or a thank you message on the way out.
Originally set up by the US military the GPS infrastructure is now freely available for anyone to use – even if it is just for fun!
